Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my second year teaching and I want to provide my group of 1st graders with what they need to succeed. My students live in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood, and more than 75% of students who attend the school are from low-income families. It is important to me that I try my best to provide my students with things that they may not have at home.
With our school-going fully remote at least until January, I want to be able to provide students opportunities to still read at home.
While they have a computer with endless reading apps, there is nothing like holding a book and flipping through pages. I will be using this project to purchase books in both English and Spanish for my students to have and keep at home!
My Project
This school year has been like no other. With students working most/ if not all of the time at home, I want to be sure that they have what they need to succeed.
Help me give my students the gift of books!
While they have an endless amount of online apps for reading, there is nothing like holding a book and flipping the pages.
With this project, I will be able to give my students 2-3 books to have and keep at home. My goal is to give them at least one in English and one in Spanish.
