Einsteins in the Making

My students need daily review of the common core math standards provided in this center.

My Students

My students face numerous challenges on a daily basis. Often times school is the only constant in their lives. Providing a rigorous education is key to helping them achieve their dreams.

My students are unaware of the numerous obstacles they face to achieving their dreams.

Our school's percentage of free and reduced lunches is over 95%. Many of the students live in single parent homes, some have a parent in prison. Others have parents who work numerous jobs just to make ends meet. They are excited about learning and love discovering mathematical concepts. Providing numerous hands on learning opportunities is key to building interest.

My Project

I observed a teacher using this math center in her classroom. The class as a whole reviews each standard by using various problem solving strategies. Additionally, they use the strategies to solve the problems on their own and record their problem solving method and solution in their math journals which allows for teacher review. In this way, students can show their thinking process and discover for themselves the numerous ways a problem can be solved. My students can really use Common Core Math in Minutes! Skill-Building Center to enhance their learning.

Early mathematical concepts build a solid foundation for future learning and mastery.

Daily review of common core standards and hands on learning opportunities provide that foundation. Building a love of mathematics at an early age is crucial to helping all students achieve their dreams.
