My Students

Working with radicals is super totally rad. That's what they all say after finishing my class!

I teach eighth grade Pre-Algebra and Algebra to over 150 students.

By the end of the year, they will be entering high school and it is my responsibility to get them prepared for a future in math. By providing them with the benefits of technology, they not only integrate math with technology, but also appreciate the potential that technology has to enhance their learning.

My Project

This year I will be implementing the Common Core Standards to teach algebra in my classroom. These new standards require all students to solve linear equations using one variable. Using the requested laptop computer, groups will investigate to find out if there is one solution, many solutions or infinite solutions. They will then begin to search for real examples of these equations in different continents around the world. Each group will present their project to the class and create a list of resources and websites where they were able to gather their information. This will enable the other groups to verify their findings.

Technology and math are both valuable resources.
