My students need laptops, printers, and refrigerators to start their freshman year in college. Since my students come from low-income families, they need as many as we can provide to make their financial situation less stressful.

My Students
I currently serve as a college adviser with Advise TX. I am stationed at AEHS in Houston, TX and work with our dedicated and hardworking seniors throughout the college and financial aid application process. These students come from low-income and most are first-generation college students.
Our College Decision Day is coming up on May 24, 2018 and as you may know, it is a time to celebrate and reward our students for their commitment to expanding their education as they announce which school they will be attending in the fall.
As the tradition continues, we are thrilled to take part in a network of over 1,500 events nationwide right here in Houston. Celebrating our seniors' success means more than a party; it means they know we are proud of their hard work, invested in their futures, and excited to see what they do next.
My Project
The materials I am requesting for my students will all be used. We have an idea of where these products will be placed. We just need your help in getting them to the students!
The laptops/printer/mini-fridge will be raffled to students who have submitted their acceptance and award letters to the grad center.
These students come from low-income communities and receive free or reduced lunch at school. Our senior class is made up of more than 800 students who need your help to start their college career. As we know, the college experience is a wonderful time to find your passion and start the path to a better future. However, it is also a time of major expenses.
The mini-fridge is especially vital to students who will be living on-campus and away from home. That is going to be a necessity for their well-being. Students will be able to store food and drinks during the semester, especially those on meal plans. As we know, meal plans do not provide enough for the day. Students are limited to 1 meal a day, which leaves them off to finding a way to provide the rest for themselves. This will help them save money as well as give them the option to stay healthy by deterring them to go out and buy fast food. The printer is another resource very important for them. Majority of the students will need to submit printed materials to their professors, and instead of paying for a school printer usage, they will be able to have one themselves.
I have seen how hard they work to secure financial assistance for university. It is time to help them get another push into starting their studies.
