Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

When entering our classroom you will meet energetic, fun loving first graders that are excited to learn. We are a flexible seating classroom which has impacted our academics in so many ways. Student's have an opportunity to wiggle and move in their chosen seats while being able to learn and grow academically. Once you enter our classroom, you are immediately greeted by smiling faces eager to share what they are currently learning about in our classroom. They love to read, write, and use the computers in our classroom to explore new subjects and play educational games with no hesitation. My students love to learn and are eager to use new tools in our classroom to support being children of the 21st century where technology is key.

My Project

Community and collaboration is a huge focus in our classroom. Encouraging student voice and reflection throughout the day is essential. Students will be able to use the Qball to answer questions in all subjects in addition to enjoying catching the ball to respond to the teacher and other students. However, it is often difficult to hear quiet students or to hear which student is speaking. The QBall uses a wireless microphone and a Bluetooth speaker to amplify the student's voice.

The QBall will encourage students to share their thinking and to create a more collaborative environment.

Through using the QBall, students will feel empowered and excited to share their thinking with others.
