"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives." ~Clay P. Bedford
Hi my name is Mrs. A.
I teach a wonderful group of inquisitive second graders in a small primary school in southern Virginia. I moved up with my class this year from first grade. Being a new teacher to this grade level has left me without many resources. In recent years attention spans are short and we as educators need to become creative with how we present lessons. My students are active and have different learning styles which I must meet.
My Project
After receiving a wonderful incubator from Donor's Choose this month, I realized that I was lacking other materials to teach a well rounded unit on animal life cycles. I strive to give my children educational experiences that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to have. My students need activities and books that allow them to explore the life cycles of frogs, chickens, and butterflies. These materials will provide my students with the opportunity for additional hands-on learning necessary to create a complete understanding of life cycles. The eggs are coming and we are so 'eggs'cited to begin our unit.
By giving to this project you will help my second grade students get a complete educational hands-on learning opportunity which is so important.
Children's curiosity and interest need to be captured in order for learning to take place. Lessons need to be creative and inviting as well as lead to investigative questioning to learn more. Please help my students with materials needed to create a well rounded experience.
