My Students
This will be a classroom full of motivated 2nd graders. They are ready for engaging activities and hands-on learning. These kids live near the city, so visits to the farm or rural land is not a usual occurrence. Say good-bye to textbook style learning and "hello" to real-life experiences!
With a world full of technology, students miss the opportunity to see important life lessons unfold right before their eyes.
Students learn best through personal experiences. With the push to increase technology in the classroom, other projects get moved to the sidelines! Let's get these 2nd graders off the tablets and ipads and learn about Life Cycles the Right Way!
My Project
Having an incubator in our classroom will be an unforgettable learning experience for my students. Children retain information that they have had a personal experience with. From the moment the eggs are placed in the incubator these 2nd graders are fully involved in the process of raising "Chicks." I have taught life cycles through plastic models and posters to my class. I have used an incubator, where real-life chicks "magically" hatch out of eggs. Which kids could tell you all about what they learned? Of course the kids that got to take care of the eggs for 21 days and hold a warm, fuzzy chick in their hands!! Let me just say, "Amazing!"
