My Project

My students come from a low-socioeconomic rural town. Because of our low-socioeconomic status as well as high substance abuse history in our area, many of our students experience trauma and educational deficits. Regardless of the challenges we face, I know that every student can learn math! I'm wanting this white board topped horseshoe-shaped table to more readily provide math interventions in my four 6th grade math classes.

In my first year of teaching 6th grade math, I quickly learned that about a third of my students need additional support after tier 1 instruction before they can work independently.

I have been pushing desks together and gathering these students around to help them while the other 2/3 of my class work independently. Having a white board top table will save us the wasted time of gathering whiteboards. Always having a definite table ready to use will also save us time. The horseshoe shape will allow all students receiving help to see me, and when strategically placed in my room the table will allow me to see the rest of my class.
