Effective Guided Reading: Teaching With the End in Mind!
I need your help to attend the HelloLitCon professional development in literacy so that I can learn new strategies as a first year teacher to give my students the most effective literacy instruction as possible!
I am the proud teacher of sixteen wonderful first graders who display a deep love of learning every single day. Many of my students do not have the resources they need to become successful, so I feel that it is my job to provide them with the necessary tools that they need in order to become the best versions of themselves in the classroom and in their everyday lives. I have a very diverse group of students, which is what makes my classroom so fun and special! My students work hard and are eager to learn new skills, and with the appropriate resources, I know that they are capable of going to places far beyond what I can even imagine!
My Project
I am requesting the opportunity to attend the HelloLitCon professional development seminar hosted by Jen Jones in order to learn low-prep high-yield strategies that I will implement into my classroom on a daily basis. This seminar will allow me to obtain the information I need to use in my daily literacy instruction so that I can begin to plan and teach intentionally with the end goal in mind. When I put these strategies to use, I will be giving my students the best reading instruction possible, which will in turn reap the benefits of them growing tremendously in both reading and writing. As a first grade teacher, I am responsible for getting students to read on a level I text by the end of the year. With incredible instruction during guided reading groups, my students will do just that! This in turn will leave students and I feeling successful and proud of our hard work that takes place in our classroom!
