Mrs. Bassie from Plantersville AL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need laptops so that they can complete the FAFSA and ACT applications so they may obtain financial aid to obtain a higher education.

Our school is a medium sized, Title I public school in rural Alabama. Our students have the drive and desire to succeed to make a better life for themselves. They see the struggle in this rural town, and want to be successful. 100% of our students receive free lunch and free breakfast. They receive ACT Fee waivers, but many of them do not have a way to register for the ACT or FAFSA at home, much less apply to college.
I have students forming a line outside my door every day to apply for the ACT and colleges, however, I only have two computers in my office.
We have a computer lab, however, those are used for the students taking advanced courses that we do not have the funding to offer on campus. Despite all the hardships that these students face, they come to school (many on their own accord), and work hard to reach their goals.
My students are an inspiration to local high schools in the area. They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, they have families who never attended college, and most of my students will be a first generation college student.
Without laptops, these students to not have the opportunity to file for Financial Aid, which means they may not have the opportunity to attend college!
Having Chromebooks will make a huge difference in our community. These students have the drive and desire to succeed, it is our job to encourage and enable their success! Chromebooks would allow our students opportunities that they have never dreamed of.
