Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is about building each student's decoding and encoding skills while fostering a love for reading. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, sharing and celebrating with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in ways that meets the students where they are at in their learning process. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My students are looking forward to being as independent as possible after high school.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, the strategies and resource in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
We are requesting three quiet tower fans for a cool learning environment in the super hot summer temperatures. My classroom has no air conditioning and it gets to be so hot in the warm temperatures. Also, in addition to having no air condition, my classroom only has two windows that only open about three inches due to safety concerns. My students are special needs students that have autism, learning disabilities, among other health concerns.
It's challenging for them to learn on a regular basis, but with the extreme heat it's almost impossible to have them concentrate and complete their tasks.
My students are constantly worried about staying cool, using books and folders to fan themselves to no relief. Having these fans would increase their concentration and academic stamina.
