Educational Rap = Increased Engagement and Learning
My students need an engaging and clear way to access complex material. Flocabulary uses song and rap to introduce and explain everything from photosynthesis, to growth mindset to character trait analysis. My students love it!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic, passionate 3rd graders who are curious about the world around them. They want to learn more about themselves, their friends, their community and their histories. They approach every opportunity with an open mind and kind spirit.
Many of my students are immigrants or the children of immigrants.
They are curious about where they come from and excited about sharing their stories with others. My school serves a low-income, primarily Latino community. My students believe in themselves and their potential. They ALWAYS work hard.
In our learning community, I want my students' curiosity and passion to be validated by what they learn and how they see themselves represented in our classroom. In my vision for my students, learning about self-identity supports and bolsters reading and math development. The next generation of leaders must believe in themselves!
My Project
The first time I used a Flocabulary video in my classroom, my third graders were transfixed. Suddenly, learning about and using nouns was the most exciting part of their day. They begged to watch videos about verbs and couldn't wait to apply what they learned. When we needed to work on perseverance, Flocabulary helped introduce the concept of growth mindset. My students still hum the character trait song under their breath while they study their characters in reading.
Flocabulary has increased learning and excitement in my classroom.
My most reticent students engage with the material and reference the videos we watch as they make connections to new topics. I use Flocabulary daily to introduce new ideas and review our learning. I also use it to teach daily vocabulary and grammar. It has changed the way I teach and how my students learn.
Sadly, our free trial has expired. Help bring Flocabulary back to my learning community! The Word A Day book will supplement my instruction and allow my students to access and learn from the videos with a richer vocabulary.
