I am a resource teacher for students with learning disabilities grades 3-6. I teach all subjects at a k-6 grade elementary school. I teach several grades and instructional levels at one time. I am always looking for fun, interactive, and meaningful activities the students can do independently. This allows me to work with individual students or small groups. I have found instructional software to be THE ANSWER. My students are very comfortable using the computer. Educational computer software allows them to become interactive rather than passive participants in the learning process. The games provide immediate and positive feedback which is essential to their progress. I find that it maximizes my instructional time and allows the students to have optimal learning experiences. This is achieved while the students are engaged in an enjoyable game or activity.
The high cost of educational software has limited the number and variety of software programs I have been able to purchase . Through this proposal I hope to begin building a classroom software library in the areas of: reading comprehension, word recognition, writing, grammar, math calculations, math reasoning, science, and problem solving skills. This classroom library would benefit the 12-15 students I teach each day. It would also be made available to all third through fifth grade classes at my school. The limited software library I now have has been an important component in the success of my students. Help me to provide them with an even greater number of software resources to maxamize their learning even further. Thank you for your considersation.
