Educating World Changers

My students need books that open new doors into the world and showcase characters that they can relate to. They also need moveable flexible seating options.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" -Nelson Mandella. This August I will begin teaching my first class of about 30 energetic and brilliant 5th graders in Oklahoma City. 100% of my school is free lunch eligible and my kiddos deserve the world.

As a first year teacher, I am in need of basic classroom supplies to serve my students to the best of my abilities.

I want my students to have access to a holistic view of their world that helps them to better navigate the challenging times ahead of them. I hope to instill a sense of power and activism in them and to instill in them that they are capable of reaching their dreams and changing the world.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create.

My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently!

Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy their independent reading time.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
