My Students

The students enrolled in my classes are resilient, honest, and brave. They've seen and experienced things that most adults can't begin to imagine. I teach life skills lessons and tutor students that have been identified as at-risk. What does at-risk mean? For some it means they are at-risk of using drugs and alcohol, some are at-risk of dropping out of school, some are at-risk of becoming criminals, but to me and each other they are just kids trying to find their way in the world.

My students fight everyday to prove to themselves and others that they've got a shot in this world.

Between caring for their younger brothers and sisters and worrying about where they are going to get their next meal, they struggle to find the energy to care for themselves. My students learn how to grow and develop into the leaders we know they can be. My students learn about the many opportunities for them that lie outside the city. My students overcome.

My Project

Educating teenagers on the dangers of drug and alcohol use is necessary for their bright and successful futures. Students need multiple ways of reinforcing these facts and risks into their minds. Our goal is to present as many facts to our students as possible.

These supplies will help our students experience the dangerous mind-altering effects of alcohol and marijuana in a safe and educational way.

During our drug and alcohol prevention unit we cover a variety of topics including tobacco, marijuana, alcohol, and synthetic drugs. The population of students we work with are incredibly susceptible to drug and alcohol abuse and benefit greatly from the experiences and discussions we provide them.
