This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many children derive from a disadvantage population which has impacted their ability to perform on grade level. Creating a classroom climate that is nurturing, loving and caring provides a safe haven which students can create goals and work towards mastering learning objectives.
There are a variety of factors that compromise the setting that I work in.
Some children have adequate support with a loving family that provides and nurtures them mentally, physically and socially. On the other hand 85% of my students derive from a population that is at a disadvantage. Arriving at school everyday may be a challenging task within itself.
Nonetheless, the efforts are extremely rewarding because it allows me to identify with my true passion to serve honor and protect the youth. What I admire about my students mostly is the way students are able to create an environment that is welcoming and adaptable. Many children come from a disadvantage population that impacts there level of comprehension. Students continuously create a positive mindset which allows them to persevere through a variety of trials and tribulations.
My Project
These materials will allow students the opportunity to be successful. Basic needs like pencils, pens, paper, and textbooks help students engage in lessons, as they gain knowledge they can bring back to their community to improve overall welfare. It has a impact on school attendance, helping children to overcome instability and identify students individual creativeness. Most importantly when children come to school overwhelmed and feeling burdened they will not have to worry about the basic tools which can be a burden to some students. These supplies will impact my classroom tremendously and allow children to be adequately prepared and focus on their gifts talents and abilities.
