My students need a trip to CiCi's Pizza, for the experience of seeing how products they eat are made before they are served. They learn about necessary hygiene used when handling food products.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would like for my students to see the process used to create a food they all like and then be able to partake of what they have created.
Most of the families within our school are at the poverty level.
We have approximately 94% on free or reduced meals. We have a mixture of races-Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian. These students don't always have opportunities for new learning experiences in the outside world.
My Project
CiCi's Pizza provides a great learning experience for students. They take the time to discuss necessary steps in creating their pizza and explaining the reasons behind each step. They, then, assist students in preparing their own pizzas. Students are given a mound of dough while their pizzas are cooking. They are taught how to roll out the dough. Students get to eat their pizzas when done. This allows students the opportunity to what happens behind the counter and the opportunity to create.
Students will have a better understanding of what happens behind the counter and the reasoning behind each step.
It puts a real world experience with what they study regarding goods and services in the classrooms. It's not just sitting and getting. They actually get to apply what they learn.
