My students need iPads for economic and research projects. My class is asking for iPads so that students can be able to work either independently or in groups.
My students are researching every week but do not have the technology needed to be able to actively complete economic and/or research projects. With iPads, students can research online, complete student-friendly PowerPoint projects in kid-friendly apps, and be able to work cooperatively in groups.
I have 25 students in my classroom.
We are in a very high poverty, low socio-economic school with a high ELL population. We are a diverse class with many Marshallese, Hispanic, and other groups. They love to learn and are high energy. One of their favorite things is to be able to research information online and work in groups on projects. With over 800 students in our school, technology access is very limited to my classroom due to sharing of time and space.
My Project
My students will use the iPads to either work in groups and/or independently on economic and research projects. They will research animals, people, etc. online and create PowerPoint type projects with student-friendly apps and present them in front of their peers. This enables them to become confident with the use of technology and presenting to large groups. They will gain the confidence needed to continue their education.
Most of my students cannot afford technology.
In fact, most of my students' families do not have internet access at home. These iPads will allow my students to keep up with technology as the need for and the use of technology grows everyday.
