My 6th and 7th graders are eager to learn! My students are at many different academic levels, they are eager for hands-on, challenging lessons where they can be creative and engaged. We are a district-owned mental health school program that serves the mental health needs of students and families in a multi-county area while serving their academic needs. Ninety percent of our students receive free and/or reduced lunches. These students come from many different backgrounds where they do not have the opportunity to utilize their creative minds while engaging in higher level and teamwork opportunities.
My multi-grade level classroom is made up of students that want to be involved in learning as much as possible while utilizing technology and hands on devices.
My Project
The Echo Dot has many uses for classrooms: it will infuse technology into my classroom, Alexa can support literacy in my classroom, play music for behavior rewards, helps with teacher organization by setting reminders, play audio book, students can quickly research by asking Alexa questions, students can use it to check their work by asking it the answer to their math questions, students can use it to gather information such as temperatures around the world, which my students could then graph or analyze using the math skills they are learning in class. The echo buttons will provide a gaming feature within my classroom. They will help students review for upcoming assessments and provide a fun, engaging learning environment. They can be used for individual, small group, or whole class instruction/review. They will provide an enticing setting for students to learn in.
Our options are endless with incoporating Alexa into our classroom!
Headphones are something that our class also needs, as all my student's are at varying educational levels. In order to continue to individualize my students needs, headphones will help keep distractions at bay, so that each student can continue to learn at their level and pace. With so many learning applications as well as learning initiatives, headphones are crucial for my students to use with their devices in the classroom.
