I am fortunate enough to have Fifth grade students who have the desire to learn and progress; they work very hard and are motivated. The students are proactive to help each other when needed. They are very kind and they respect the differences and the unique qualities of their peers. They are great leaders in the school as they participate in many different projects including lower-grade buddies, Student Council, and Lunch Workers.
They are embracing all of the new technologies that are available to them and are encouraged to learn while using them.
They understand that the world is progressing and that they will be an integral part of the future. They want to participate in the community and learn more about the world around them. They take every opportunity they can to do so.
I am proud to call myself their teacher!
My Project
As we all know, technology has become a necessity in life. We work with technology, we socialize with technology, we learn with technology. The students in my class are no exception. I am requesting two Echo Dots to have in my classroom so that students' learning is more accessible on a daily basis.
"When schools tell students to put technology away, it's like asking a doctor to save a life with one hand tied behind his back." (Matt Miller)
The children need the ability to develop their education through the use of technology. They need all of the tools available to them to increase their understanding of academic and scholarly information. I embrace the use of technology tools in my classroom.
My students will use the Echo dots in different language arts and math small groups. In language arts small groups, an Echo Dot will be set up to help students with spelling in their writing. Students will be able to ask the Echo Dot to spell words they are using in their writing. In math small groups, students will be able to use the Echo Dot to check their work. This will allow me to work with another small group that may need a little extra help.
I will use the Echo Dot in class for timers, playing music, and giving students a chance to ask fun questions when they earn it.
With Echo Dots in my classroom, my students will have a better chance to succeed and grow by using them for the following activities: math review, science, writing (editing), spelling.
