I teach 38 outstanding 4th graders whom I love dearly. They are the highlight of my day. They are full of energy from the time they enter until they leave. They are so eager to learn and ask a million questions in two minutes. They are one of my many reasons for waking up in the morning.
My first-period class is very spunky.
I have six girls and thirteen boys in that class. My girls are always in competition for my attention. If I compliment one, I have to compliment the other. They all are very pretty, respectful, smart young girls. My boys, on the other hand, are louder than my girls. They think I am their mother. They are always telling me they love me in a motherly way. They have that take charge kind of attitude.
Now, my second class is like a little amusement park. I have twenty little people all trying to get a piece of me. They work all work at their own pace and learn in all kinds of ways. I have some that lay on the floor, some that sit under the desk, and some that stand constantly, but they work.
My Project
These items will be used to help keep kids safe while working in the groups with each other. Giving them awards help motivate them to do better. They become very competitive once they see their peer receive a happy from the table. Also being able to give them a snack when they say they are hungry is a great feeling. It also allows them to focus better. It is hard to learn while hungry. I know chips will not fill them up, but they will help tie them over. Also, receiving snacks at school means the world to some when they never have any.
I often share what I have with them, if not giving them all I have.
They are so appreciative of the small things. Little toys from Dollar Tree melts their hearts. To know that their teacher cares enough to do more than just teach is a major plus to them.
