Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of teaching 40+ amazing Second grade students this year. My school embraces a diverse population. My students are part of the dual language program where they are learning literacy and mathematics in both English and Spanish.
The students in the dual language program are taking a path different from many of their peers and need resources that support their learning.
Many of my children are learning English as a second language and many students receive special education services. My students come from various backgrounds but live in a city faced with many economic challenges.
My Project
An easel would provide a dry erase surface for morning messages, number talks, modeling how to write, writing shared pieces together as a class and countless other activities.
Currently, there is very limited wall space in my classroom and our dry erase boards are not centrally located for students to easily access when they need visual aids to support their learning.
This project would be the focal point of our learning through out the day and make a huge difference in our classroom learning environment.
While we are reading on the rug, students can easily reference our learning objective because of the convenience of the easel’s mobility.
