Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning, we start off the day with a pledge based on our expectations and goals. Our aim is to create a learning atmosphere that lasts until the last minute of the day.
My students are 31 kids who come to school with a positive attitude everyday.
They are extremely outspoken and competitive, but sweet and caring at the same time. Some of them have shared with me how much they have learned in 5th grade and this motivates me to keep asking for your generosity one more time. And most of my students do not have access to buy an easel and posters to create a great project for exhibition time.
My Project
My request is based on connecting all learning skills to provoke deep thinking at this time such as reading, speaking, listening, researching, and presenting. A typical summative assessment for our 5th Graders by the end of the year is to prepare a project related to our community. My students have already picked out innovating topics like immigration, poaching, and feminism. Not only that, our Speech teacher invited some High School students last week to exemplify how a speech looks like, sounds like, and feels like. These kids used the tools I am requesting while presenting great speeches and my little 5th Graders asked you once again for your generosity to support their new project.
They need thick posters to create their presentations.
These 6-ply posters, a new tool for us, are sturdy and will stand up well than regular construction paper. Also, there are a wide variety of colors, so my students can pick the color they want! We also need easels to present our projects. The best easels are made of aluminum but they are expensive for a restricted school budget. These easels will hold all the posters my students will create. Finally, I would need some tiny magnets to attach visual aids to the thick posters as part of the presentation.
Be the caring person who understands a little kid trying to apply what they have learned from a High School kid. Believe me, my students are ready to reach stars on exhibition day.
