Help us make learning happen "Easel-y!" I teach in the largest school district in the state of Kansas. My school is a Title I school with a high poverty rate and a good size population of ELL (English Language Learners) students. I teach 2nd graders for all of their core subject areas. My students learn best when I am able to teach to a variety of learning styles. An easel would allow me to reach all of my students.
My students do not have the opportunity to easily practice new skills. We have most of our lessons in our meeting area on the carpet where they can stay more focused and attentive. However, I have no means to model new skills with this arrangement. We also do many center activities in our classroom and would love to have a versatile learning tool that can follow us to each center.
The all-purpose teaching easel will provide my students a much more versatile learning experience. We would utilize the easel in many ways some of which include: modeling new concepts, having students practice skills, and we could also display posters, charts and big books. The storage on the bottom would hold our supplies, books, and notebooks so they would be easily accessible. We could also use magnetic money, shapes, and letters on the easel. The easel could be moved to any part of our classroom to accommodate our meeting area or our many centers.
Your help will ensure that my students take an active role in the learning process. This tool will be used daily by my 2nd grade students. We will integrate reading and math as well as let students use this tool for centers. Instruction will meet the needs and abilities of all students. I would love to have this learning aide to benefit not only my present students, but my future students as well.
