This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Hello. I am a first year second grade teacher. I teach in the inner city schools in New York and I love it. The kids are great, but unfortunately many students do not attend Kindergarten. They require more guidance, instruction, and support. Needless to say, they deserve the best education possible. As a first year teacher, I do not have the resources needed to be as effective as possible. As you know, many teachers are expected to purchase many classroom items from their own pockets. First year teachers have not accumulated items over the years. Therefore, I am starting from scratch. When I entered the classroom, I noticed the classroom furniture was not suitable for an education environment. Therefore, one of the items I am requesting is an Easel. An Easel will help me easily maneuver around the classroom, demonstrate and model skills, chart out comments and questions, used for writing and art for a literacy center, and so much more. I used an easel when I subbed in California (all the classes had easels) so I truly feel like I am missing an important classroom tool. I do sincerely appreciate you generosity. Thank you very much.
