I teach a wonderful group of kindergarten students who love to learn. Our school is a Title 1 school and my students come from all different backgrounds. The majority of my students have moved multiple times, have experienced some sort of trauma, and have little to nothing they can call their own. Though they have experienced all this trauma and stress in their past and present, they work hard and are energetic and eager to learn everyday.
My students deserve the best education I can provide them, and that is why I have made it my mission to get them all the materials and resources necessary to help them be successful.
It is my goal to instill a love for learning in each of my students that will last a life time. These wonderful students are new to the school system and I set the stage for how they can expect future educators to be.
Our classroom easel is the center of everything we do in kindergarten. The easel will be used to help build our classroom community. During our morning meetings we will read our interactive morning message. The easel will also improve student learning as it provides us a place for activities to be modeled for the class, for the students to engage in learning together, and for us to create anchor charts to remember our new learning. It is dry erase and magnetic, allowing us to use dry-erase markers and magnetic letters/manipulatives as we engage in learning as a class. One thing I have found that increases class engagement and participation is to allow a student to come up and teach their peers. They love the chance to write on the easel or help teach each other. Additionally, it becomes a place for us to store our big books, vocabulary cards, manipulatives, and other necessary learning tools. The best part is the fact that it lends itself to creating a flexible learning space. With wheels, it can be moved to any part of the classroom and be used in so many ways.
The easel will make our learning space more functional and enjoyable.
My students work hard every day to improve their reading, writing, and math skills, but we need your help to really make it happen.
