My students need two easels and two tables for small group instruction.

"Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding." -Robert John Meehan
This quote embodies what I believe about educating all types of learners.
I teach small groups of first through third grade special needs students.
I work at a high-poverty school in a high-crime area. Despite all the adversity that they encounter on a daily basis, my students come to school smiling, energetic, and ready and willing to learn. Classroom teachers modify lessons, incorporate energizers, and seek to make learning engaging. The children I work with have learning difficulties, language processing issues, and attention issues. This makes it exponentially harder for them to succeed throughout the school day. I truly believe that each person learns differently, but everyone CAN learn and be successful in school and life.
I am a special education teacher who works with small groups of struggling learners within their own classrooms, using an inclusion model. When we are engaged in our reading and writing projects, it is imperative that we are in an area of the classroom that supports their learning.
Students with learning disabilities learn best in an area that supports all types of learners.
These 2 easels will enable me to provide visual charts and copies of pages from the actual books we are reading to ensure my students can utilize the strategies used in shared reading.
The tables are imperative for students who have trouble with focusing and need a space to both sit, write, and read. Right now it is challenging for us due to our current tables which are worn and wobbly, and have been well-used for years. These 2 new tables will be used for many years to come.
We look forward to learning with our new easels and tables. Reading takes us anywhere we want to go. I want my bright young scholars to grow as readers in a comfortable space within our classrooms!
