Ms. M. from MD is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an easel in our classroom because it will make both whole and small group instruction more efficient. This will allow me to better personalize and customize my lessons to meet individual needs.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school is comprised of over 400 students from diverse backgrounds. It is a small, tight knit community where students and parents are greeted with a welcoming smile each day as they enter the building. Most of our children walk to school and they come ready and eager to learn. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. We have some of the most talented artists, scientists, historians, musicians, and mathematicians you could ever hope to meet! We are considered Title I and our children receive a free breakfast every morning.
After breakfast, our kindergarten students begin their days with community circles where students and teachers work together to build relationships with each other and create an environment that makes every child feel valued and appreciated.
Following that, they begin their academic day. The project donations we have requested will help them to start their journeys as successful and productive members of our community.
The materials that I am requesting for my students already have a "home" in our kindergarten classroom. I just need your assistance getting the supplies through the door. The easel will be placed right by our carpet so that we can easily access it during whole group instruction. Additionally, when I pull small groups to meet students' individual needs, I will roll the easel to where they are sitting. I will be able to model words, webs, and charts to ensure learning is personalized for my little scholars and so that they are developing the lifelong skills they need to be college and career ready.
The STEM challenge and gears will be used during English language arts instruction.
These items are used as exploratory items for kindergarten students. Children can create and construct models and then use them as part of the story telling process. Additionally, it can be used as part of their assessment so that students can demonstrate what they know.
I greatly appreciate your contributions to making sure our students have what they need to learn and succeed. My goal is to develop an environment conducive to making learning customized and to foster the development and potential of each and every child. Your contributions will help me to reach that goal. Thank you!
