Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My beautiful Buffalo K-6th grade art students are creative, resourceful, and above all, amazing artists!
Each art student absolutely loves learning about contemporary artists and art making approaches through videos, websites and images.
Although every learner is different, visuals are paramount for young artists to observe works of art and become inspired with their own ideas. Simply put, most students need visual references of their choosing at their desk of while making their own art. Your kind donation to this project would enable the students to have colorful prints at their fingertips to study form, color theory, proportions, etc.!
They are truly an incredible group of kids, and I am so lucky and thankful to have these learners year after year!! Thank you for your time in reading, I hope you will consider supporting these artists!
My Project
This color printer will make a huge difference in our art room! As a visual class having colorful images at their fingertips/ disposal will be paramount for their art making needs.
Every single lesson requires the art student to draw, paint, sculpt or collage an image.
Having images hand selected and printed off at their desks will enable them to learn so much about shape, perspective, proportion, color theory, etc., etc.!
A lesson that students love in particular is self portraits using the app, Snapchat. Each year we do this, the students upload their image to the server and we print it off in black and white from a grainy teacher lounge printer. It always takes the wind out of their sails a bit to not see their faces and filters as vibrant as they are. But their grit keeps them going! Imagine how excited they will be to get their pictures in color!
