Our school services students in grades 9-12. We have a high mental health and special education population in our school. Our school averages about 35 students per grade level and one teacher per subject area. Our student body is very unique as they embrace all students and teachers; we have little to no bullying and haven't had a fight in the school in countless years. Help build a stronger school by building stronger community and relationships among our students throughout the year.
My Project
I am requesting some trees, shrubs and other plants that students can plant for Earth Day.
Dawn redwood trees, windmill palm trees, hosta mix, lilacs and colorful perennial sunflowers will brighten up our yard.
Students will plant these trees and plants for Earth Day and watch them grow! These are plants that need little care but make a big impact for students and our school grounds and around our community.
It is difficult to find plants and trees that grow and can withstand the high altitudes and animals that are in the mountains. These trees and plants are good for our climate and are animal resistant.
Students will learn about how to care for plants and trees. They will dig and plant these plants to help our community, mother nature and learn about the plant life cycle. Students will be responsible for watering them when we have dry spells which are common in our area. Students will chart their growth and determine which grow faster and does the growth of a plant matter if they are a shade plant or a sun loving plant.
Help us teach students learn how to care for mother earth!
