This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a 3rd grade teacher in a K-3 school. Also in our school the families are in the low income area. About 90% of our students are in the low income area. I would like for the students in my class to read and tape themselves and replay it so they can listen to themselves read. I have been working a lot on fluency. I want them taped and I can listen to them as well when I am unable to take a reading group in a small group for that day.
A lot of the student's supplies are given by me. Therefore, I want them to be able to listen to themselves after reading and I will be better equipped to place them in groups. I have them in groups, however, if they can read alone and be taped, this give me an opportunity to work with another group.
This will enable me to free up time with two groups as I work with another group. With these tapes I know students will practice more so they will sound good on the tape recorder.
This will make it possible for the students to listen to themselves and they will want to read with fluency.
