I have 22 wonderful third graders. They are excited and eager to learn. My students were in first grade when Covid first hit our area. Some of my students are returning to school for the first time since 2020. We have been using a classroom economy in our room. My students applied and were hired for a classroom job, and they earn money for their jobs. They also earn money for other reasons. The materials from this grant will allow my students to take home a coin bank for their real money at home. It will also allow me to provide them with different items in our classroom store. It is nearing Christmas and some of my students will not receive much for Christmas. I am wanting to give them the opportunity to use their classroom-earned pretend money at our class store.
Students are allowed to spend their classroom-earned money at our biweekly classroom store.
This grant will provide them with different spending and saving opportunities. They can save their money for something they really want. I purchase all of the store items with my own personal money. I currently am needing some assistance with providing them with more expensive items to purchase. The classroom store is just one of the ways we learn about money. We are learning about saving, spending, investing, and donating money.
This grant will help encourage my students to continue to work hard, do their classroom jobs, save money, and learn the value of money. We also use our money during our math lessons. I will utilize some of the books purchased by this grant in my math lessons and centers.
I can just picture the excitement on their faces when they see all of the exciting items they can purchase with their money!
