it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Kindergarten is where it all begins. Students come in with a zeal for learning in their first school setting. My students love to create and and express their originality, unfortunately many of my students come in unable to provide the basic supplies to complete their schoolwork.
My school is in an urban area in Maryland.
Over 93% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch. A majority (72%) of our students are English language learners. Our students come from diverse backgrounds of many different countries and cultures. Providing my students with basic supplies is a challenge as many of their families are unable to afford these materials for their children.
My Project
In connection with our Social Studies unit on goods, services and economics students would earn classroom buzz bucks by displaying our 3 core values; honesty, kindness and self control. These bucks would be used to purchase fresh new school supplies. Students will learn about money exchange for needed goods. They will have to earn, save and count up their classroom money and prioritize needed supplies. Students will also gain a sense of pride and independence as they are able to "buy" their own needed materials.
Your generous donations for this project will help students learn fiscal responsibility and how economics works on a small scale.
In addition, these supplies will motivate students to continue to work hard with fresh materials as many of our supplies are depleted.
