This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am in a rural school in Alabama. Most of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is a Title 1 School, due to the high poverty in the area. Many of my students have never traveled out of their county.
New erasable tables will allow the children to use their imagination to draw and write directly on their desk.
This will also allow them to brainstorm. The learning is more concrete when they can see what they have written or created.
My Project
The books will be used to help beginning readers build strong comprehension skills. The books are designed to introduce and guide kindergarteners through close reading. After reading each book, students answer questions to build early comprehension skills. The students will get ready to read one at a time. The books will guide the students to read one skill at a time. By reading the students will also build and begin to recognize sight words. The readers make it easy to provide differentiated instruction and meets every student needs. My students are smiling and they are looking forward to receiving new books.
