My Students
We are a small rural community elementary school in central Illinois with approximately 400 students ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade.
As the sole person in the library and only a Library Aide, I try very hard to keep the books up to date and books that I know they are really wanting or asking for.
Although, I have quite a few the "Who, What, Where Was/Is?" there are so many more new copies added throughout the year. Our students are crazy about these books, they can't get enough of them to read! I will be retiring this year but I would love for the students to begin the 2020-2021 school with a surprise of fresh books from this collection, to start enjoying on day one of the new school year!
My Project
There are many students of every age and grade that come through the library door. I am constantly trying to keep fresh reading material in their library to peak their interests. this can be a daunting task some days but I wouldn't have it any other way. These students are eager to learn and when I can get a reluctant reader to start reading about something they are really interested in, I believe I can mold him/her into a lifelong reader. At least that is what I try to do everyday. This is my passion and this is my mission in life.
