Help me give my students opportunities for hands-on learning that will support their early literacy skills in writing, speaking, listening, and drawing. These concrete materials will allow them to be even more successful in their learning.
My students are the youngest scholars in a small inclusionary elementary school in Boston - a large and complex urban school district. We serve both general education and special needs learners and have a high percentage of bilingual learners as well. Our entire school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Due to COVID-19, students in Boston have been at home for almost 2 years.
Kindergarteners do the work of learning by talking, writing, drawing, and reading during play.
I want to make my classroom a fun and engaging place where students feel welcomed and comfortable learning pre-literacy skills using hands-on materials that support their learning. My little learners love hands-on activities and it is my goal to help them increase their communication and pre-literacy skills by using engaging hands-on materials.

These materials will support my young students in developing their early literacy skills because they will be fun and engaging. Students will learn while they are playing and their successes will be natural and joyful!
These educational play materials will help set the stage for lifelong learning as hands-on learning gives students the opportunity to engage with each other in an impactful way.
While developing their skills, the students are engaging and having fun, feeling safe, connecting to one another, and experiencing pride because of their accomplishments! The materials I have listed will help my Kindergarten students develop stronger literacy skills this year!
