Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you pass by the toy section in a store and reminisce about the toys you played with as a toddler? Early Learning toys are essential to foster my students growth and development through interactive play. They will help students to learn shapes and colors with materials made for their little hands.
I have 22 students with special needs (Development Delay, Cognitive Delay, Down Syndrome, Autism, Speech Language Delay, Speech Language Impairment, Dyspraxia).
They range in age from 2 years to 6 years old. My classroom is a self-contained Early Childhood Special Education classroom. The students attend half day sessions, either AM or PM.
My Project
The Early Learning toys I am requesting for my students are intended for infants and toddlers, but they will be perfect for my students (ages 2-6) because of their delay in development. These toys will help my students learn concepts such as colors and shapes using toys and manipulatives made for their little hands in a fun and playful way.
These Early Learning toys will enrich the lives of my students and their experience at school.
Learning through play is the philosophy of my classroom and these toys will encourage the students to learn as they play and have fun.
