Have you ever seen a child that has never used a computer before? This year I have, I have students who have never used a computer before entering my classroom. I wish to make every experience with a computer count.
My students are in a unique circumstance, because of the remote area, most of the students are bused to and from school.
Some of these amazing students are on the bus for over an hour a day. A large majority of these students are living in an impoverished lifestyle, and any new experience will benefit their learning.
My Project
My students need as many opportunities for learning as possible, hands-on, whole group and small group. Interactive games are just one more avenue for my students to learn, and these games are a great way to reinforce what they have been taught by me in the whole group lesson. These games can be used in many different ways including small group and most of these programs are able to be used as the whole class and those students who are waiting their turn have the opportunity to support their learning, in addition to the academic knowledge being reinforced, they get the opportunity to practice patience, this is another skill they need practice with.
I am learning that students in this community are more engaged in learning through the use of technology than any other population that I have worked with because they have had such little exposure to it.
They need all the help I can provide with as many different experiences as I can.
