Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school where the majority of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and go home to non-English speaking families. Some of our students are the only English-speaking people in their families.
I make it my goal every year to supply my students with the supplies they need and hands-on experiences that they wouldn't get elsewhere.
It’s very easy to tie a project or activity into the standards the kids are supposed to be learning. By getting our hands on what we’re learning, we learn even more. I love it when my students finish an activity and say what a great time they had and how much they learned. Our students are very bright and deserve every opportunity they get.
My Project
My students need earbuds for their district-provided laptops. We have some amazing math and reading programs, but my students need earbuds so they can hear their individualized lessons.
Because my students are eight and nine years old, I am asking for a lot of earbuds because they do break, get stepped on, and magically disappear!
At the beginning of the school year, I was awarded a grant for water bottles for my students so they had water available to them all day. We also need a few more water bottles for our new students coming in.
