My students need earbuds and mice for their Chromebooks. We use technology daily but, the headphones and mouse pads are broken. They haven't been replaced. We need these supplies to help us learn.
My 5th grade students attend a low income, area school. All students qualify for free lunch. Many students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Others come from families that are new to the country. With the different languages in my classroom, we have a wealth of diversity. My students need support to help them advance in school. Helping my students, gives them a head start in their education. They worry about having enough food, keeping their homes and having enough clothing for the different seasons. My students need a positive start in education.
My Project
Every day, we are able to use our Chromebooks. We use it for math, Language Arts, science and research projects. It is a great tool to have. Unfortunately, the mouse pads are breaking, and the headphones partially work. Replacements are not going to happen anytime soon for my students. I do not have enough headphones for all of my students, so they have to share. If they own their own earbuds, they bring their own from home. We've tried the Dollar Store earbuds, because they are affordable, but they aren't very good. Students also have been trying to bring their own mouse to use. But, many students don't own a home computer. Having enough mice and earbuds for my students will help us learn more, while using our Chromebooks.
