I work in a Tier I project public elementary school with children who are eager to learn. Unfortunately, we do not have ample funding for both classroom supplies and to buy students their personal supplies.
Many come in with barely any or none at all.
It makes it very hard to work with and begin or carry out the learning year successfully. With the donations, students can have pencils to write with, dry erase marker to use on curriculum provided boards, papers to make projects and drawings on, tissues to blow noses, wet wipes to clean, notebooks and folders for assignments just as expected for one to see in any ideal classroom. We do not have these basic supplies and it is disheartening but we try to empower ourselves to believe we can achieve with no limitations.
My Project
Having the basic supplies will allow students to have pencils and dry erase markers to write with, notebooks to write in, folders to send home and keep work from class in, paper to draw on, wipes to keep clean and tissues to wipe noses. May seem simple but not many can afford these items. The children are the future and helping to empower them will foster the ability to persevere to what to us may seem already there. Give the children hope to believe that they can reach for the stars and never give up. A little but, goes a long way!
