My kindergartners walk into my classroom everyday full of life, so much energy, eager, and very excited about what they will be learning that day. I have a very diverse population of children that range from feeling confident in their abilities to those that need additional support in all areas of their life. I want them to know I believe in them, care about them, and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school in Idaho where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. My students have an abundance of energy and drive to further their learning and increase their knowledge. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful in all areas of their lives.
My Project
My kindergartners are very eager to learn how to read and require exciting stories and engaging informational text to help support their learning and continue their love of reading. With a listening center that can organize everything needed, my students can easily access headphones and different read alongs for strong and continuous engagement. Kindergarten is a pivotal year to begin a strong foundation of all five key areas in learning to read; phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. With an engaging and fun listening center I will be able to help my students create that strong foundation they deserve and need.
