My Students
By the end of the school year, I want my students to be able to read books at their level and ENJOY reading during independent reading for at least 30 minutes.
My students are 2nd graders in a low income school. Many of my students deal with hunger, violence, and many other adult issues on a daily basis.
Our school is filled with many caring adults that have worked on the southside of Columbus their entire career.
My Project
These books will give my students books that they will be able to read independently during our reading block. Having books that they can read by themselves will also boost their self confidence. In my classroom, I have students reading at pre-kindergarten level-3rd grade level.
This donation will give my students access to books that they can actually read by themselves! Currently many of my students sit during independent reading looking at pictures and flipping pages because they can not read the books in our classroom.
