Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The school is located in a low-income area where over 90% of the students are on free or reduced-priced lunch. Buying supplies for 6 classes and multiple students can be a burden on the families. Students often feel embarrassed and do not come to school because they do not have the proper materials for learning. Middle school can be difficult enough, and I would like the students to have one less thing to worry about. Having school supplies will prepare the students for learning and achieving their educational goals.

My Project

My students are at a crucial stage in their development and staying healthy is at the top of the list of important aspects of their lives.

In addition to water for hydration after school, we will use the healthy snacks to teach about healthy practices in general.

They will have access to these snacks daily after science club. My students currently bring unhealthy foods to eat. My students want to be healthy and they want to learn.

My students need these basic essentials so they can excel in school and in life far beyond the classroom. When your basic needs are met, you can begin to think about all the enriching things in life besides mere survival.
