My Students

I teach two sections of third grade ELA. All 37 students are hardworking and love reading. They are determined to become stronger readers and I see that every day in the classroom based on the effort level they present while reading. They are learning to love their books and make connections with the characters they are reading about. Our ELA block consists of reading workshop, where students are learning new strategies to strengthen their reading. It also consists of independent reading where students are learning to give characters advice and track their characters in their stories.

It is important to me that students find books that interest them because that will push them to want to read and learn more.

My students face challenges every day inside and outside of the classroom. By making our classroom safe and loving and filled with books, they'll find their passion and love for reading.

My Project

These books will continue to build our reading community inside and outside of our classroom. My students love to read. By being able to have more choices, they have a better opportunity to be successful during their independent reading time.

With these new books from the Caldecott collection, students will get to read books that have had a major impact in the reading world as well as the real world.

I have also selected other books in hopes that students will fall in love with the author's craft or a character and want to read similar stories by that author or follow that character through the series. I am so excited to continue to provide students with books that will foster their love of reading!
