Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager, excited, active learners. They come to school ready to dive into whatever the day has to offer.
All of my students are unique and bring their uniqueness to class with them every day.
They come from different backgrounds and different cultures, but they all come for the same reason: to grow and learn.
Our TK-8 school is located in the fertile central valley of California, surrounded by farmland and dairies. Many of my students are bilingual and are still cementing their English skills. They are eager to excel and willing to work very hard to do so.
My Project
Our classroom library has expanded by leaps and bounds this summer. We have worked very hard to bring in books for every reading interest and every reading level, books with which the children identify and in which they can see parts of themselves.
But what library is complete without science fiction and mystery books?
This project will fill that void in our classroom library, and appeal to students who, perhaps, are not interested in many of the other books in our library. Children who can see themselves solving mysteries, or who envision a future where they solve problems presented in science fiction books! Every child deserves to see him or herself in our classroom books!
