My Students

Third Grade is the year where they come in as "babies" and leave as independent workers. It is the year where they switch from 'learning to read' to 'reading to learn'. In other words, we expect a lot from them!

While many students have access to technology at home, they use it for games.

I would like to teach them how to use it to research and use as a learning tool for content material. Their minds are eager to learn!

My Project

With the Kindle e-reader, I will be able to upload a variety of texts and the students will can use the dictionary features to help them understand context. It will also allow students whose language is not English the chance to read the same article in their native language so they do not feel left out of the discussion.

Students will be able to access more updated texts with stories that are relevant to their current interests.

Most of our campuses are using textbooks that are at least 10 years old and available funds have gone to hurricane repairs instead.
