My Students

My students are hard working, and passionate learners who are products of a technology centered generation.

We are working diligently to prepare students for their future, not our own pasts in regards to the integration of technology in the classroom.

Due to many of my students coming from low income households, it is imperative that I introduce them to technologies that they do not have access to at home, that will help shape their futures. I want to help close the achievement gap that my students face by not having access to these current technologies that are becoming more and more prevalent in their lives.

My Project

This project is going to change how much access my students have to the online reading programs that help boost their reading skills. There are four reading programs that my students BEG to use during reading time, but we currently do not have enough technology to go around.

These E-readers will provide one third of my class access to these online reading programs at all times.

During my small group reading instruction I try to give students as much choice as possible, and these tablets will make that happen. An added feature of kindle fires is that the kids have enrichment activities that can be used as a big motivator!
