This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students get excited about borrowing my Kindle to read.

I teach 8th grade Language Arts.

Reading is essential to their development, and they prefer it if they can read digitally. Students use my Kindle and the laptop in my room to read books when they can and love it. They get excited because they feel like they are doing something more special than with a traditional book.

My Project

The e-readers will be used in my room as a reward and responsibility. Students will be allowed to check out the e-readers and use them for their reading assignments. Since the same book can be downloaded to multiple devices, this gives me the ability to have reading clubs or literary circles for one book.

My students are from a small town and feel as though they are always getting left out of what students at other school receive.

These e-readers will allow them to see that their small school does have the same tools available to bigger city schools.
