I teach a special education class in a Title I school. I serve thirty students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Their disabilities range from learning disabilities to visual impairments. They come from diverse backgrounds. Some students have limited verbal abilities. Five students have limited motor skills, which limits their writing ability. Most are mainstreamed during the day into regular education classrooms. They are at least two years behind their peers. Many come from impoverished backgrounds with little parental involvement.
When working with my students and other classrooms, it is exhilarating to watch them all learn about each other.
My Project
This project is for a laptop computer and printer. They will help implement my financial literacy unit in a virtual way. These items are critical as we navigate through uncharted times. They will allow my class to meet in Zoom or Google Meet and continue with learning while we discuss spending and saving. During these times it's critical to know when and how to spend money. We can not allow our students to get behind. The printer will allow us to print our work and assessments, which is very important. Students need away to send and produce work. Most importantly, these materials will allow us to stay connected with each other. This is important for our emotional and mental well being. Please consider supporting this project.
